Default A new mini phal. Again..

It's just a cute little mini phal..
Reminded me of some sort of equestris hybrid...
I know I'm not gonna get an ID on this one but this is where we share NOID's right?

I had some phals like that where 1 leaf was angled and growing at a weird angles.

I think the grower turned the phal when it was in its growth phase. (Just a thought).

Isn't it better to cut off the browned ends of roots? The senior members on this site advised me to trim dead portions. What do you think?

Huh.. hadn't thought of that.
Those roots are dried and hollow so don't really concern me much. It's the brown ones in the pot that would worry me. But yes... I am going to trim the brown parts off...
I just got it home from the store lol....
Overall it's roots are green plump and healthy in the pot. The pots been packed too tight, and there's no air circulation, and its too wet. But it had healthy roots...
I intend to repot it tomorrow.

Would be nice if you can give us an update on what the roots looked like after you take it out of the current medium. (Pictures maybe?)

I wrote my thread that was related to your type of phal so i am very much interested.

Sure... if you like I'll post pictures of its roots...
I wasn't potting it tomorrow for any particular reason... I can do it now...

Here's the pictures...

First there it is in its pot. It's basically shrink wrapped onto a rock of sphagnum moss. I do meant rock..
Second there it is with the pot of.. lots of algae and its soggy with water. Zero air movement.
The roots come third.... very skinny and weak but otherwise in very good shape.
Fourth the roots after a trim. No signs of rot. Everything was in good shape.
And finally potted in loose fresh sphagnum moss in an open slightly bigger pot.

Those are some pretty little flowers! Certain names come to mind, but can't be sure. who cares it looks nice! haha

Most of mini phals I buy almost always come in the same fashion. Super tightly moss and yet roots look so fine. I wonder how that had been possible in the nursery. mystery...

Enjoy your lovely mini phal!

It's very cute...
It really did remind me of the zillions of equestris and equestris hybrids that have very similar flowers...
I've always liked them but never felt inclined to spend so much money on one...
This will be my faux equestris till I decide to actually spend the money on one lol.

Great pictures and commentary/descriptions, ordphien. I hope the plant will like its new medium/air movement.

Very nice.
