Smile Dendrobium gouldii??x?? Help newbie

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I am so glad to have people who actually know what they're talking about( because I don't !). Anyways, I bought a dendrobium at my local greenhouse and I don't have any idea what it is... Maybe a d.gouldii hybrid? What do you think?

If you can, try posting photos of the plant as well, but someone might be able to determine what it is by the flower photo you posted. Good luck, it can be tricky identifying them, at any rate, it's a beautiful flower!

That looks like Dendrobium phalaenopsis. They can be pretty amazing. A friend of mine had a dark purple version that bloomed almost continuously. You'll want to make sure to take that foil away, as keeping water in the pot that way could cause its roots to rot.

I respectfully differ in opinion...

I don't think it is a Dendrobium phalaenopsis or any of its hybrids.

This is definitely a hybrid. It is in a group of Dendrobiums commonly known collectively as "Antelope Dendrobiums". These Dendrobiums are in the section Spatulata. Whereas Dendrobium phalaenopsis is in the section Phalaenanthe.

It may have Den. gouldii in it, but I don't see it.

It is possible that it may be a cross of Den. lineale and Den. mirbelianum, idk.

I can't ID this Dendrobium beyond what I've told you though. Nice plant.

You're probably right. I've not grown any dendrobiums for so many years, though I really like them. The plant photo looked so much like I remember and I thought them the most likely types to be found, perhaps that's no longer true.

I looked at those two species and can definitely see the resemblance. At least I know it is an antelope though.
