I'm sorry to any of those that I have offended. I have stated my opinion and a great find. If you disagree, you are absolutely entitled to but hanging up on me is no better than saying that I hate what has happened to phals. I don't hate or dislike phals but I don't like what has been done to them. The same way I don't like that afghan dogs are continuously bred for a smaller head and they suffer terrible headaches and are in pain because their brain is too big for their skull. Regardless of the beauty of the breed that characteristic is meaningless if it hurts the dog. Now as far as orchids go I like them because they are unique but many grocery store phals are not. They are bred and crossed for no reason except to be massive and they are dyed because blue is not a natural colour. Again I am sorry if I offended anyone but this post is about my opinion. You are entitled to disagree but don't beat on me because you don't like my opinion and how I have chosen to articulate that opinion. I encourage anyone to disagree but leave the personal comments out of it.
I'm happy to all those who have found this same wonderful phal at grocery stores and Walmart and ikea and any other big box stores. I think it is a rare and wonderful find. It also reminds me why I'm always on the lookout for chids whenever I'm in a place that sells flowers. I have a few convenience store finds that were in rough shape and tossed to a back corner to slowly die and I can't wait for them to bloom. My latest and greatest save/ find was a Lc Tristar Bouquet. She was a disaster when I got her but was a unique looking large Catt so I took her home and after a summer outside I was rewarded handsomely with a massive cluster of fragrant blooms. Keep an eye out guys cause you never know what kind of gems you might find.
Well said let_it_grow!
I myself have an opinion of the large dyed flowers and breeding just for eye-appeal; it's sort of like breeding roses with no fragrance - but I digress.
I have found some phenomenal plants at the area 'no frills' markets - and you never know what some breeders are distributing inexpensively! Just another intriguing aspect of urban orchid hunting ---
Great find - be sure and post when it blooms.
