Nice Find Gwen, Are the flowers fully open and are they cold weather plants? I go to a lot of different Home Depots and have not seen that.

I don't know, Dave. The flowers MIGHT open up more, I wish they would, but I doubt it. All those lips just sort of stick out there in a big pout! LOL
I think this one will require the usual Phal temps - intermediate to warm temps.
I only recently found out what a peloric was. . .from Dorthy, I think. I thought I'd seen a peloric Phal at Home Depot some time ago, but didn't know what it was then and so passed it up. It wasn't a super healthy one anyway. So I was on the lookout for an interesting one. . .and today was my lucky day.
I think this batch of orchids had just arrived because they looked GREAT. . .gorgeous, big, perfect leaves and great looking plump buds.
Just keep checking out the home centers. . .sooner or later, you'll see one. This one was $22.95. In a great big 5" clear plastic pot, sitting in a clay pot.

I've seen a few hybrids that look like this one, but have different names. I, too, have one like this from the Depot....it's name is Phal. Baldan's Kaleidoscope 'Golden Treasure'. That is the one I've seen mostly at Home Depot. I don't remember the names of the others, but chances are if you got it at Depot, it is highly likely that it's Baldan's Kaleidoscope. Here's a picture of mine:

Oh YES! That's it! I am so grateful. Now, I can log it in Cattleya-Log. LOL
"Peloric - In orchids, a term used to describe an unusual and often beautiful (sometimes grotesque) condition where all three petals (instead of just one) attempt to fashion themselves into lip colors and/or shapes."
. . .odd, isn't it?
Mwhua ha ha

Glad I could help. This flower has very striking, almost flourescent, red veins. It looks liike it has lava runnin' through it's veins. I'm only moderately into Phals, but this is one of my favorite Phals in my collection. The peloric values are a definite stand-out, though!

I as well bought mine from the depot. Being the supervisor of garden I hit the unopened box's before our vendor puts them on the table...sometimes it's disappointing but the bonus orchids keep me outside waiting for delivery day
Dave our shippment comes from south Florida; the area of where you reside and know that many of our regioinal depot's go to the same vendor...its merely the luck of the draw as we never know what we get when or order is made, we order "exotic" orchids which is a general orchid and what is in nb or blooming. Our store have received a few paph's and phrag's, missed the phrag, got side tracked with a customer and guess possession is 9/10ths of the law
If your curious on vendor arrival day, call your local depot and talk to the garden supervisor or the associate that orders the plants which they can give you the day of delivery...
The depot will never overtake our OB or online vendors, but the mere difference is touch and feel than you buy.

Dave, Cheryl is exactly right. . .BE there on delivery day! Just in case, something interesting shows up.
Home Depot is no match to our vendor sponsors. I am oh so happy with all the orchids I've received from Oak Hill Gardens, for instance. . .but Home Depot is great for hold me overs between deliveries.
Ooooh, I am sooo bad.
