My dad gave this to me the other day as a gift and I'm trying to find out what exact kind of phalaenopsis this is. I thought it was a leopard prince but those are a little more spotted than this one. The picture is a little deceiving because the flower actually has a deep purple rather than a light purple to pink. If anyone could help that would be awesome!

First of all, your flowers are very beautiful!

Second, leopard prince has a few various forms, one of which looks like yours.

While yours surely could be LP, it could be something else. It's just very hard to tell.

1) There are simply too many, similar-looking hybrids for you to ever be certain which it is.

2) Differences in culture can affect the appearance of plants, so even clones of the same plant can have dissimilar attributes.

Combine those, and it can reliably be considered a "No ID".

It's so anoying when plants aren't labelled, because as Ray says you can never be 100% what you've got. Have a careful look on the pot: I know there's one supermarket here in the UK now has partial names on the pots (along with one of those phone scan thingies) which you can work out the full name from. So maybe you'll get lucky...

These days a lot of commercialy grown phals don't have names and aren't registered. The average person buying something pretty in the supermarket isn't bothered, so the growers don't bother either.

Really pretty!

As has been said, there are so many phals and many breeders who produce them for the mass market don't bother to record the crosses or register their names. Because so many are produced many can look like others, and look like named ones when actually the parentage is different.

Don't worry about it being a NoID, it's just as pretty without a name, I bought many of mine without names.

Great color and stripes. Not trying to be a JA - I'd call it Phal. Noid #1

I agree with the others. Your plant is very pretty but it will be impossible to know for sure what the name is unless you find a tag. I have a NoID Phal I got as a gift and I call it Phal NoID Konnerup after the people who gave it to me. You can give it your own name but make sure you clearly state it is a NoID when posting pictures etc. I wish they would label all orchids!!!
