L. Pumila wrong color now right!
This L. Pumila bud shows a sliver of petal that looks white. It's suppose to be a deep lavender. Might it darken before or after it opens or is it time to ask for a replacement? Thanks!

Perhaps it is better to wait on this one.
Unless you really know how far along this bud is, you have no idea of knowing whether it is still going to darken up or not.
It does look like there is some pigmentation coming along, though.

I agree. It's a little early for the colors to develop fully.

Thanks Philip and Kim. It's good to know color might darken. Some patience required from me .

I agree with the others. It still can develop the color. I just had a mini-Catt that bloomed and the bud was very light but it bloomed out quite dark. If it does come out a different color the tag might of just got mixed up. SBOE has a lot of different pumilas in their greenhouse. Can't wait to see the flowers. It's nice you got two buds on one growth. They usually only have one.

Wynn, thanks for looking. Feel very lucky about the two buds...and that the smaller one didn't blast. SBOE website said 'Sparkler' has a willingness to bloom. Right now tepals have become very white and it looks more like coerulea. Can't wait to see final color and bloom. Hope pumilas get chosen for project.

I hope the pumilas get chosen too. I don't think you can have too many! Any of the Hadrolaelias are great! My Laelia alaorii is about to burst open and I have a bud in my Laelia dayana var semi alba 'Lip Service' x self. I really hope I get a semi alba out of that cross. The person who made the cross said the first few to bloom looked almost exactly like the parent so I have my fingers crossed! I think your pumila will come out right. Sometimes the petals show before the bud develops fully. I'm not sure why that happens sometimes though. Post pics as it develops! But you could end up with a pumila that would of cost more than the one you bought! That might not be so bad!

Thanks Bud. I tried to find pumila pictures in your albums, but didn't see them. By the way many beautiful blooms in albums. Where should I look for the pumila? Thanks again!

Will take amother photo tomorrow to have sequence like Bud mentioned. Oooooh, I love alaori. Then I read they liked more humidity than pumila. What level of humidity do you give it? Can't wait to see your bloom. Good luck with dayana and getting that semi alba.
