Well,I don't know what to say, because I bought this plant 4 months ago and it has been receiving the same treatment during this time,no changes,no extreme differences ...
It has recently lost all the blooms and I 've cut the spikes ,because I've heard that once you've done that, the plant will channel all its energy on developing the roots/foliage.This is the only change for my plant.
Does it count?
I second Ray's comment. I have a few plants now that started second leaves seemingly out of nowhere but on hindsight, I changed my fertilizer to Solo, a product ray sells. Now in my case the initial new leaves are still growing along with the brand new one. No idea if it was the solo but both leaves on each affected plant are still growing...no evidence of stalling. I should mention I have a flush of crazy new roots off older roots too. It's all pretty crazy.
I've had several do this and the first one still grows to full size. They just grow along together. Unlike others comments here I've never had them stall when that happens.
Also the ones its happened on for me have been those doing particularly well. Almost as though the plant wants to grow even faster than it can with one leaf at a time.
