Default NoID to Me?

Pics attached of one that is blooming now. I think it is an imported hybrid and not indigenous to Guatemala.

ID Suggestions?

Thanks,

C

Beautiful blooms! I don't recognize these blooms specifically, but if I had to guess I would guess that it is a species and not a hybrid.

I have "Black Orchids" here and the flower structure is somewhat similar so I thought it might be related (Prosthechea). The flowers look a lot like "Prosthechea trulla", but looks like the plant structure is a bit different...

the flowers are prosthechea. There are over 100. not in my orchid books but like chocleata or radiata type.

Prosthechea was my suspicion too, based upon similarity to "Black Orchids". Now, the devil is in the details...

Yeah. I have radiata and another one for which I know the tag was wrong so it is a noid. When I got them a long time ago they were encyclia. Now they are prosthechea. The lip being on the upper part of the flower is why they were transfered. They smell swell. None of my books has this one. Some have similar flowers but not the thin spindly pbulb. Some have the thin leaves but not the pbulbs. Hope someone can find out what it is. I love the flower shape.

I recognize this plant--I believe it's Anacheilium baculus. (It may more properly be known as a Prosthechea now). The twin flowers back-to-back are a dead giveaway, as are the spindly bulbs you mention. Isn't the fragrance awesome?

Sure looks like a winner to me.

Will check the fragrance -- it is about 6 ft up in tree.

Thanks much!
