Default Better-Gro Problem

I have two of the Lowe's Better-Gro bag babies, and, in your experience, which usually turn out to be accurate: the tags, or the images that came with them? I have what are labeled as "Cattleya Schilleriana var. Coerulea" and "Potinara Sweet Norma," but pictured are Laeliocattleya Memoria Robert Strait 'Blue Hawaii' and Laeliocattleya Tropical Sunset 'Cheer Girl:'

P.S., I think they may have stolen the image... Laeliocattleya Tropical Sunset 'Cheer Girl' | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Funny, the tag for the first one looks a lot like the tag on my bag baby that was labeled Blc. "Volcano Blue" At least it had a tag in the pot though. Hasn't bloomed yet so I can't say which is more accurate...

I'd go by the tag name. The picture on the bag is usually a 'representation' of what the bloom will look like.

The tag is the real label. The picture is usually not the exact bloom, just to give you an idea of the general look of the bloom. Although some of the more common clones are accurate pictures, such as Oncidium Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance'. If I see a bagged orchid I may be interested in, I will just google the name on the tag and see if I can find some pictures of the species, cross or clone.

I agree that you should always go by the tag, the picture labels are reused for many different species and hybrids that fall into the same general 'look type.'

I doubt that Sun Bulb (Better-Gro is their retail brand) stole a picture from Greg Allikas to use on labels that go out around the country. Greg and Sun Bulb are both in Florida and pretty involved with AOS as far as I know, so use of one of Greg's images is probably with his explicit permission. I guess it's possible but it seems very, very unlikely to me.

I hope your plants do well, sounds like you picked out some good ones!
