Default Reverse names??

I have a few orchids that appear to be un-named hybrids (at least by my research) HOWEVER they are the reverse of already names crosses.

Examples include:

my plant is Blc. Oconee x Blc. Cateechee which looks to be a reverse of Memoria Mickey Boatwright

this one is slightly off... Pot. Hisako Akatsuka 'U.G' x Blc. Oconee which i THINK is a reverse of Pot. Linda Phelps which is Pot. Hisako Akatsuka `Volcano Queen' and Blc. Oconee `Mendenhall' **this one is going to bloom soon so I can post a pic when it does.

What does it mean when someone reverses a named cross? Is it unique still? Can it be given a new name?

Thanks!

hmmm ... I believe it doesn't matter which parent is which - any cross of the two will have the same name. I definitely could be mistaken however - let's see what others have to say

Sonya, you are absolutely correct. No matter which parent is listed first the cross name would be the same, that goes for parents with different clonal names as well.

Thanks Glen and Sonya...I am keeping track of all my plants in a spreadsheet and wanted to get this clarified before I gave them a name that might not be right.

That's my understanding to. I think they record the way round it was on the first register of that cross, but after that the Grex name applies to plants created by both directions of the cross.
