Question Pleuro ID please

Hi All,

I bought this Pleuro last year and the grower sent me the name Pleurothallis brevipes. I actually bought 2 and both have now bloomed at different times and different colors. Weird...I'm thinking we have a an ID issue.

Take a look at the photo. It is much darker than brevipes with dark maroon points. Also, this is blooming now (spring). My other brevipes bloomed late summer/fall and it was yellow orange.

Do you think this is sanchezii, rabei, burzlaffiana, or pachyphyta?

Or...do you think that it is just a really dark form of brevipes blooming early?

I e-mailed the grower but in the meantime, thought I would pick your brains.

Plths breviscapa. The ID you got was close. Those two species often get confused name wise because the species names sound, look, and are spelled similarly to each other.

Plths breviscapa is red, cream, and black.

Plths brevipes is red and yellow.

Awesome! I have one of each. They are both very cool looking even though very small. You have to have a magnifier to see the flowers.

Thanks! ...trotting off to update the tag.
