Temperature is an extremely important element to orchid growing. Temperature ranges are customarily categorized as warm-growing, intermediate and cool-growing. Here are the quick guidelines:

Day Ranges Night Range Sample Orchids Enjoying This Range
Warm 70–85°F
(21-29°C) 65–70°F
(18-21°C) Phalaenopsis (moth orchid)
Intermediate 65–75°F
(18-24°C) 55–65°F
(13-18°C) Cattleya (corsage orchid), Miltonia
Cool 60–70°F
(15-21°C) 50–55°F
(10-13°C) Masdavallia, Odotonglossum

These are no absolute rules. You may find that some intermediate orchids will do perfectly fine several degrees warmer or colder, whereas others might prefer a narrower range.

Hi and welcome to OB!

If you could post a picture of your plant, that woud be of great help, as a more accurae advise could be given...

Bud has given the general oversight of temps, however these are not th only factors needed. Depnding on your lan you also would need to chck for the amount of ligh and watering guidelines... Furthermore, for many orchids, the night temps are more important...

I cant upload on my iphone? I just looked at the tag it states, odontoglossum/ oncidium , matsui nursery ,CA. Its flowering so I have it inside. I am just starting to recieve evening sun on my north side patio. The 3' pot is filled with roots all the way to them poking out at the bottom. 6 bulbs as well. I have low humidity I pretty sure.

To discover how to properly care for your orchid, identifying what type of orchid it is will help. Here is a link that will hopefully help: Orchid Identification

It looks like you discovered what it is already!

I started with posting from my iPhone but you need tapatalk to do that...you may also load the picture in your computer and resize it and click on "advanced" button and post your pictures...

I have a sneaky suspicion you have an Oncydium by the way you are describing the pot and the roots of your plant...

You are in good hands now that Ramón and Leafmite are here to help you.
