Brassia NOID
Hey everyone i just picked up this Brassia from a local nursery. It had no label on it but it looks to me like maculata or arachnoidea or a possible hybrid of the two.It smells a little like roses.
Please help me identify ! As you can see the bulbs seem to be a bit dehydrated i guess a little watering will bring them back to full health
Thanks for your time

It will probably be difficult/impossible to accurately ID as there are a lot of hybrids of these sold, some of them not even registered.
Do you have any details of the nursery on the tag, sometimes contacting them is the best way to find out what it is.
I'm not sure if brassias plump up again after shrivelling, so don't worry to much if it doesn't. Oncidium types tend not to plump up again while some others do.

Hey RosieC , this is actually my first Brassia so i'm not sure if they'll plump up either. I just assumed they would because the same thing happened to a Zygopetalum i bought a couple of months ago and it was really dehydrated after 15 days of travel and now it's plump again and getting better every day with signs of new growth all over.
As for the label it came with one from Orchidaceae. I checked their website and the only Brassia i can find is Brassia Datacosa which does not seem to be the right one.

I tend to give mine names myself if I can't find the real one. As long as I make it clear when posting pictures that the name is made up (or don't include the made up name) then it's not a problem.
Care should be the same as for any Brassia I would guess and I started growing mine based on the Oncidium Culture sheet from the AOS as that was the closest I could find. http://www.aos.org/Default.aspx?id=202

This doesn't look like a straight Brassia to me - looks like if may have some Miltonia or something else in it. Beautiful flowers, thought.

I don't think it's straight Brassia either, more likely something along the lines of Miltassia, like Ron suggests. Or maybe Brassidium.

It could possibly be Brassidium Fly Away 'Miami' It looks very similar and is quite popular. But since it is un-named, It cannot be positively identified just from looking as there are so many hybrids.

Beautiful! I want an orchid that smells like roses!
In my experience, shriveled pbulbs won't replump, or very little if they do, so don't overwater if the pbulb remains shriveled.

Brassidium Shooting Star Black Gold.
I have an orchid with that name tag and I can say it's identical.
