I am newbie to this forum as well as to orchid world.
I just bought this orchid very cheap (for about a dollar). The seller said there will be flowers by May.
Canes without any leaves looks like this.Have been worried since.
Umpteenth googling and a vague photo with seller had me concluded that it is a deciduous variety and most probably dend primulinum.
And whatever variety it is; does it look ok or too dried up?
Any help, pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
It's still green so it looks ok to me. If it turns brown I would worry. I can't begin to guess which Den it is. The deciduous types need a dry winter and somewhat cool as well. I have one in the same condition and am waiting patiently to see if buds will come out. Good luck !
Merlyn - Thanx, that is some solace, good luck for yours too.
Nenella - Thanks a lot.
At the moment I have planted it in a mixture of vermiculite+vermicompost+coco soil (cocopeat+humus) in a small basket.
Watering very carefully but misting twice. No sun only indirect light. ???

Welcome to Orchidboard!!
Giving it a name will be difficult with only bane canes. It could be any number of deciduous Dens. The only way to have some sort of clue as to what it may be is to wait for blooms.
That soil type mix is going to kill the roots, Dens don't grow in terrestrial type medium. A bark based orchid medium will be much more suited to it.
