glengary54- you got it!
camille1585- then it was my spelling error that made you unnecessarily confused, sorry about that.
It definitely looks like there's equestris in its ancestry and I look forward to when my different varieties of Phal equestris arrive. They will look so cute next to each other!

You are going to have a zillion equstris in no time, I get one keiki after another, after another. Me too, i have my sights set on the 'orange' type in Germany, but it's a bit expensive.

I know!
I have five arriving this week and then Phal equestris coerulea will be shipped as soon as the weather allows it. I also have my eye on Phal equestris 'Orange' - it's the only one I'm allowed to buy at the moment. I haven't found any yet though. Where have you found it?

Well, it WAS at Schwerter, but it looks like they're sold out of it since the last time I checked!
I used to have one, and it's not really orange though. The blooms start out a bit orange but then quickly fade to pink. I just want to replace it!

Yeah, I ordered my coerulea from Schwerter and if they had had any equestris 'Orange' I definitely would have ordered one.
Actually I wonder why it's called 'Orange', because it definitely doesn't look orange to me? It's more peach coloured I would say, but I still love it and really want to have one.

I always figured that it's called 'orange' the same way that very visibly purple or pinkish-purple orchids are called 'blue'. Just an over exaggeration of the real color!
My favorite is the 'dark' form. Mine has nice dark pink flowers that are very round shaped. I love it!

Oh, do you have a photo of it? *runs off to check*
I also like the 'dark' one, it's on my wishlist!

Before you even ask, I have no idea where it came from! I got it as a keiki from a fellow OB member, and I have no clue where his came from.
The first year it bloomed out very lavender colored, then the following year it was like it was supposed to be, i.e. dark!

Yes you did! How lovely.
And I saw you have a Phal 'Philadelphia' or 'Wiganiae' (schilleriana x stuartiana) too, great taste there I must say.

Thanks! I love 'unique' Phals. You won't believe it, but I picked up the Wiganiae in my local garden center, buried among the regular Noids! Since visual ID is not always correct I emailed the grower off the label in the pot, and I got lucky, not only did he reply but he confirmed the name for me.
Wiganiae won't bloom very nice this year, my guinea pig munched the tip of the spike. Luckily there are 2 side spikes growing, but it won't be a very impressive show.
