Dendrobium ID. please

I just got a brand new 'chid at my orchid society meeting, and it was not labeled. Sooooooooooo, I was wondering if anyone had any clue about type and care. Think its a Den. but again, not 100% sure. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

It does look rather like a Dendrobium, but I don't have a scale to refer against, and without flowers, it's really tricky! If it's quite small it *might* be a Den. loddigesii, but it's hard to say with no scale and with a somewhat wintery plant!
In any case, with relatively few leaves, it suggests whatever it is is probably deciduous or somewhat so and will benefit from a rest/torture period until it wakes up again in sping - very little if any water and no fertiliser. Such dendrobiums need this harsh punishment to flower well.

Comparing size with the tilandsia my gues was loddigesii to but without flowers just a gues.

Your best bet would be to ask the person from whom it originally came or try to find out - at least you can find out in that way what culture it needs.

If it's a species I'd guess Den. parishii; canes are fatter and don't branch like I'm used to seeing in loddigesii. Either way basically the same culture: water enough to let the plant dry thoroughly in-between but so the canes don't shrivel much (for my parishii about 1x/week right now), night temps into the 50s if you can manage it. When new growths start to show gradually increase water and temps; add fertilizer and keep almost constantly moist when new roots get about 1/2" long, then gradually taper off again when temperatures start to cool in the fall. Bright light year-round; in the habitat (Himalayan foothills) light is brighter in winter due to the monsoonal climate. For me loddigesii tends to bloom from March-May, while parishii is more like May-June, but that may vary depending on your conditions. Nice pick-up, I love these species and their hybrids!

I think Ron may have the best idea, and it'll be a lot easier than guessing. Can't believe that someone would sell an unlabeled plant!

As long as we're all guessing, I'm going with Den. senile. It looks hairy, but that may just be the out-of-focus pictures.
