Question Dendrobium, need ID

My new $5. bargain needs a name. Stems slender, plain green, abt. 1/4" thick. Two have spikes. Stiff, thick leaves, smooth, w/some shallow lines paralleling deeper midrib. Mature leaves abt' 3" long, pointed, approx. 1" wide at the widest point, solid green, arranged alternately with nodes spaced a bit over an inch apart. Oldest stem just over 10" tall, has 11 leaves. Spike so far extends about 11" above the top leaf, with small, narrow, pointed buds just starting to show. In a 4 inch pot, some sort of potting mix blend, not moss or bark. Has some very brittle aerial roots growing from the stems, pale grey, most abt' 1/8" thick. Have very pointed tips, all growing toward pot, varying lengths, originating opposite to & below leaf nodes. They said it's evergreen, has small orange flowers, not hard to grow. No pic yet, sorry, I need a new camera. Any idea what it is ? I need some clues re: growing conditions.

Very well described. Unfortunately this description could be for any one of thousands of hybrids. Post pics once the blooms open up and you may be able to get a guess for an ID, but most of the hybrids out there look very similar to other hybrids. Sorry for the news. However finding the name of a similar orchid is always helpful so you can remember what the blooms look like when it isn't flowering. I would then write on the tag for example: Dendrobium Blah Blah Name NOID (noid meaning it didn't come with an ID tag, so this is just to remember the approximate look of the blooms).

As far as culture, bright light but only morning and/or late afternoon sun, water when dry during the growing season and blooming, water less frequently in winter, fertilize with balanced fert (ex. 20-20-20) half strength weekly or every other week, keep between 65-85 F during growing season and protect from temps below 55 F, and they like to stay pot bound so don't overpot.

Thank you !.. and I have since seen one identical to it in a nursery and learned it is an epidendrum, which was a kick, as the plant they were selling was half the size of mine and they were asking about $30. for it. I am relatively new to orchids but enjoying them so much. I have a south window, balcony overhang outside, would that do for year round for epidendrum, and any suggestion for feeding would be appreciated too. Oh, by feeding, what I really wanted to know was type of fertilizer.. I try to not use too much synthetic stuff, so is fish emulsion or compost tea suitable for these plants . I use them most in summer, when I put as many plants outside as I can, where I have suitable spots on the balcony. Despite the southwest orientation, there are lots of choices for the amount of sun or shade any given plant will get. Btw, the flowers have opened and are bright orange, abt.1 inch across & very pretty, I hope to get a camera tomorrow and get some pics to post. Thanks again.
