Rhyncholaleia digbyana is frequently used to create complex Cattleya hybrids where it is used to bring its fantastic frilly lip to the genetic mix. Sometimes it is used to add a picote edge to the lip in hybrids with other genera. The color of the other parent is dominant in hybrids. It's a beautiful orchid regardless......

.......still no closer to an id(ea)! Simple speculation.

It does have a frilly lip like what we would expect from digbyana influence, but what I missed from the beginning was the pointedness of the tip of the lip. Maybe some Brassavola cuculata influence??

I agree it is Rlc. Digbyano-Purpurata for two reasons.

It looks exactly like the remake of this early 1898 hybrid. That was when hybrids were so rare as to be able to name them by the parents, hence the name. Obviously we can not so that any more.

The second reason is that this plant was a recent remake by Better Grow products, who sell to Lowe's and Home Depot. About a year ago they released thousands of blooming size plants that are now flowering.

Your flower looks like a first time flowering. The flower will improve the next time it flowers. I have a picture in my photo gallery at Untitled 1
This photo was the first of the group to flower and one of the best flowers
