I helped my brother split the mother orchid late last year, and I kept this cutting. He doesn't know the name but told me it was a pendant cymbidium. Any other clarification on this orchid? I was quite surprised when I saw the buds, so small, not at all like other Cymbidiums I have seen in the shops.
Correct. Just googled and found it is indigenous to Australia. Was found in 1997 growing 70 kms. north of where I live on an Island in the Moreton Bay area. The bulbs were used as food by the Aborigines and seed were used as oral contraceptives. They are very hardy cymbs. with a lovely perfume.
