I don't often post here - a noid is a noid, after all, but thought someone from our area might recognize this. The photo was taken at last year's Mount Baker Orchid Society Show. When I took the photo, I recorded the name as Sarcochilus Sarcross, only to discover that there is no such hybrid registered. Anyway, for what it's worth, here it is:
Sarc. Southern Cross (hartmannii x australis) maybe? Looks a lot like your picture, though most of the hybrid Sarcochilus I've seen look pretty similar to me...
That sounds reasonable, Nat. I'll have to look into that possibility. It's not my plant so it's not a big deal - just like to have the right name on my photos.
I doubt it's Southern Cross. I agree there's hartmannii in it. The yellow lip and fairly broad pattern at the centre of the flower indicate (a lot of) fitzgeraldlii in the background. I'm not convinced about it having any australis in it. It's a bit hard to judge the shape from the angle of the photo but I can't see anthing in the shape of the flower that can't be explained by fitzgeraldii. As for an ID, it could be fitzhart, Cherie or a lot of other white breeding.
