Default My "charlie brown orchid" I.D. help?

Hi Everyone!

I am fairly new to this wonderful hobby. When I first started I went to a local nursery for a repotting class. One of the things included in the cost of the class was that we got an orchid after the class was over. I should have known it was too good to be true! The orchids they brought out for us to choose from were on their way out. I figured they couldn't sell them in the nursery so they were giving them to us....we were all beginners so what were we going to do with dying orchids?? We were lucky to keep our own alive So, I accepted the challenge. I was going to take one and give it my best shot, what could it hurt?? So, the picture below shows my "Charlie Brown" orchid. I believe it is an oncidium?? Is that correct? As far as the name of it I have no clue...there was no tag or anything to identify it. Anyone have a guess?? Thanks for the help!
LuAnn

It's an Oncidium alliance intergeneric (has different genera in its background including Miltonia and Brassia). General culture, though for the Oncidium alliance will be what you need.

It looks like it could be a miltassia of some sort. I have several with the same shape but different colours. There are so many hybrids out there that if it has no tag, it can never be named for certain. It is definitely from the oncidium group of orchids tho. It is lovely!

I should add, miltassia is a cross between a miltonia which has a lip similar to yours and a brassia which has quite long narrow spidery petals and quite often brown and gold colouring.

Thank you all for the input. I just wanted to make sure I was giving it the proper care. I am always amazed at all the different types of orchids that are available. I guess this one must be okay with what I'm doing for it since its blooming! He'll just be "onc. charliebrown" from now on Thanks again!
