Question Name Clarification

Hi guys! So my neighbor gave me another orchid. She says the blooms are small and orange.

The tag says:
(Blc. Orange Nuggett x c. Nalo Surprise) x Ctna. Why Not 'Nalo.'

Any pics out there? Care info? Also, does it have a nickname (preferably something shorter than what's on the tag?

Unfortunately I can't find any info on the C. Nalo Surprise but given the two other components of the mix, I would say that your friend is correct that it is a smaller orange flower. As to care, bright light, no direct sun, water well, let it dry out completely before watering again.

C. Nalo Surprise is a recent (April) registration of C. Clown's Image x C. walkeriana. The cross of that with Orange Nuggett has not been registered, so there is no way to shorten your tag at this time. I can agree with Glen's conclusion that it is probably an orangey flower of moderate size. From the Clown's Image ancestor it could be a splash-petal type. It should have no special needs beyond the general Cattleya culture conditions that Glen indicated.

I suspect it is a cross made by Puanani Orchids, since Nalo names are associated with them. They might be able to confirm the appearance. Here's a link to their website. Home Page

Make sure to post a picture when it flowers.
