Help with identification
Default Help with identification

My 86 year old father has an extensive orchid collection but is now in poor health and I am a novice trying to help with identification. Could anyone offer some clues as to these two? Thank you!

The first one looks like an Odontocidium type of orchid and the second appears to have a Zygopetalum background but thats about as much as I can offer.

I agree, the first is an Oncidium alliance hybrid, and the second is a Zygopetalum hybrid. In both cases there are too many similar hybrids to make a more precise ID. Others may suggest it 'looks just like' something specific but there is no way to be sure.

The first is Odontocidium or Odontioda (cf. Oda. Margarete Holm), the second is definitely a Zygopetalum-Hybrid. Nice flowers! Oda. has slightly bigger flowers than Ocdm. , but that is no rule...

The first looks similar to my new Odontocidium Hansueli Isler. Can't be certain it's that of course and yours seems to have broader/rounder sepals and petals. But I would like to guess it's something similar. Take a look at mine here. Odontocidium Hansueli Isler
