Everything you do at this point forward will lead you to an orchid.Theres an orchid around every corner. They will haunt and taunt you. Laugh in your face, then cry for water and light when there is none. The orchid will become your companion, your confident and your nemesis. You will find orchids in places they shouldnt be in, but they are there. You will dream of fields in Valhalla of red, pink, purple and blue that will smell of the sweet scent of Orchidaceae. You are an orchid in your heart and soon must join your kind to feel complete. Welcome to the World Of The Orchid.

Very eloquent, but drooling and shaking like an addict does spoil the effect.

Reedstem epidendrums like this happily grow in gardens (in the soil, as long as it's not too soggy) all over South Africa. In a slightly shady spot in your garden they should be OK; I've also often seen them being happy in full sun.

I don't think I've ever seen one offered for sale around here.

It is definitely a reedstem epidendrum and it's growing like weed, but refuses to flower.

It is hanging in a basket with under an acacia tree in the garden with a lot of full sun during the morning and the afternoons, and filtered sunlight during the hottest hours of the day. It got a slight purple tint on the stems and some of the older leaves and got nice roots and seem happy, but it's just determined to make more shoots and leaves instead of flowering. I still have no idea what color it has.

I'm going to put it into the greenhouse to protect it from frost during the winter nights ahead and I really hope I get to see some flowers next season.

It is a reedstem epidendrum, but it would have been so cool if it had been a sobralia because they look beautiful!
