I got this orchid as a gift but i'm not sure if it's a Phal at first I thought it was but it has thinner flower spikes that seem kinda "viney"

That's what I thought the flowers just looked smaller than my other ones lol and same with the spikes

Yeap, it's a phal.

Phals can vary a lot. This in fact looks pretty standard for the phals you find in most shops. They can vary in flower size, there are small variations in flower shape, colour obviously, also leaf size, root thickness, spike thickness, how much the spikes branch etc.

Now if you get into the Phals sold by specialist you will never believe how much variety there is, with flower shapes, textures, spike shapes etc which you never see in the standard ones sold.

Yours is a gorgeous colour by the way, and plenty of buds still to open which is always good on a new one

Actually this is a pic from when I first got it so they have all opened but tehr oots looked really unhealthy the last couple weeks so I have just repotted it and cut the unhealthy ones off today. Thank you though I cannot wait for it to bloom again it was so pretty!
