thank you to everyone! Vandalover, that's very exciting to know that I may have another bloom again soon if I do something right! lol

Junebug, I saw your avatar in another forum before your post and thought the same thing-- that looks almost exactly like my bloom!!

orchidsamore, before my orchid bloomed and perhaps every day since, I've been keeping a close eye on my plant (maybe even obsessively so lol) and there has never been a thrip in sight. The only insect I've seen is an ant. However, will keep this info in mind as long as my plants is in bloom and for the future.

Thrips are REALLY hard to see with the naked eye. It's difficult to describe what they look like because they're so small. Adult thrips are tiny blackish looking things with wings and the juveniles are tiny and yellowish in color with narrow elongated bodies. I had never seen one until recently. My phal blooms were exhibiting mystery spots so I did something suggested by another member of OB. I did a VERY close visual inspection after blowing on the blooms. I've been spraying all my plants with Ortho systemic every 7 days since I spotted the little buggers.
