Not from a gas station, but I need an ID - Orchid Board

Got this at our yearly swap, and I'm pretty sure I was told a name, which I promptly forgot...but the name might have been familiar (now, doesn't that help?)
Any clues? I'm sure it must be one of the many B. nodosa hybrids. It is not scented in the daytime, I haven't checked it at night, but should.

Definately a B. nodosa cross.......with what I would be guessing. I would say that nodosa is a generation or two removed. The value of those little plastic labels is amazing!

I remember listening to a seasoned orchid grower talk, who always put 2 plant tags in every pot. They carried identical information. One sticking out like we are all used to and the second one was buried down the side of the pot where no one could see it ~ just in case.....

Ditto on that two tags thing. I don't do it myself, but it is a darn good idea.

Hi Nancy,
I am leaning more towards B. nodosa x C. maxima. The lip pattern and coloring of C. maxima is very similar to your orphan plant. That cross is Bc. Fuchs Star, if it is that cross!

I have a B. nodosa and know a great deal about them and pretty much all the B. nodosa's have a spicy cloverlike fragrance that is stronger during the day when it recieves the most ample amouts of light. If yours dosn't have that fragrant aroma it may not be a B. nodasa. It could very well be a Laelia orCattleya.

Regardless of perfume it could still have B. nodosa as its parent dependant totally on the genes it inherited and those that are expreessed for you to see or smell. Unfortunately it could have 20 parents with only 2 expressing their genes. Once bred with the true parents would come to life as seedlings would express many diffent genes that the individual plant has in its ancestry. So really there is little chance of this plant being identified with any real certainty. Sorry about the bad news but I'm more of a realist.
I have heard of the 2 tag approach (I'm just personally to lazy to write or waste 2 tags tho) and also those that tie a tag to the actual plant itself.

Thanks, all for the suggestions on ID - I got this plant at a swap, and the donor didn't know the name, either. He's had it for many years, and had literally a basketful of divisions. It is fairly fast-growing, and blooms on each new lead quickly - 4-5-6 times per year.
Guess it will have to be Bl or Bc luckynancii
