Several months ago I picked up for $1.50 a overgrown orchid with no new growth and a dead spike. It has never bloomed in my care, so I am having quite a bit of trouble in identifying it. However, I have gotten a lot of new growth on it now and in repotting it this morning I found it easily seperated into two plants. Both look happy and healthy. But I have no idea what to expect when they finally do send up new spikes.
The tag the came with it reads "
Mtdm. Issaku Nagata Epi". Of course the people at the shop were completely clueless. And I have seen no reference to that name in either of the orchid encyclopedias at the library. (I really should buy one for my home use but am not sure which is the best)
Does anyone have any ideas what I've bought? No matter what they are, I find it very exciting that there are now two healthy plants!
My thanks,
Richard
