Default What is it? Rescued orchid with no ID

Hello there,

I just rescued this orchid two days ago from a nursery that was going out of business. It was not even in a pot! It looked like it had fallen over and come out of it's pot. I couldn't leave it there... so I brought it home, fussed over it, potted it, and I hope to continue to nurture it.

The big problem is... I have no idea WHAT it is. I suppose in the coming months it will be easier to ID because it does have a flower spike.

Any ideas? From my best guess, I think it's a Phal, but I'm not sure. The only thing I had on hand to repot was bark mix, but so far it looks happy. Is there anything else I should do to help it recover from it's neglect?

Hello and welcome to the OB.
Yes, your plant is a phal, a noid (no id). I'm afraid it will always be a noid as there are literally thousands of hybrids and many look alike. It looks healthy and enjoy the blooms!

Yes it is a phal and it looks like you have done very well by it. Just give it good culture from here on out and it should be fine.

A NoID Phal. Don't worry about not being able to get an exact name. Phal is enough to know to care for it, and NoID phals are just as pretty.

I have quite a lot of NoID Phals and I just give them a made up name, but then if I post pictures for others to see I lable it as NoID, or NoID with my made up name in square brackets (I picked square because they are not generally used in orchid naming as far as I can tell, where standard brackets have a meaning in naming).
