If you're wondering where the petals are...

They're between the striped, hooded dorsal sepal and the long tubular synsepals (fused sepals). They look like orange angel wings with red edges and red tips.

Should you be looking to breed this species, the stigmatic opening is very easy to find on an enlarged version of your pic. It's actually much larger than I thought they'd be!

If you look at the column, petals, and the lip, all together they resemble an "orange angel". The lip is the "lower torso". The petals are the "wings". The column is the "upper torso". In the "upper torso" of the "angel", you can see what looks like the "head" of the "angel" - that's the anther cap where the pollinia are hidden. Underneath the "head" of the "angel" is what looks like the "neckline" of the "gown", or what looks like a "bib" - that's the stigmatic opening.
thank you very much on the info again, very informative. many thanks. yes can imagine the orange angel now, but unfortunately did have the chance to do any pollination, the smell attracted a lot of insects, by day 3 or 4 most of the flower had already withered, i assumed the pollina had been triggered by the insects.

Not too surprised. Most Bulbos are fly pollinated.

Flies are everywhere and they're more aggressive about finding food.

1. The flowers on most Bulbophyllums don't last very long (usually under 1 week).

2. They may not be able to be selfed under normal circumstances, but there might be a trick that might work...

Use your spit.

Spit into a little bottle cap and when you remove the pollinia from the flower, dip it in there, then pollinate.
