Noid Orchids
We all no them most of us grow them and most of us hate them,
As for myself I love buying these wonderful faceless plants. To me the enjoyment of growing orchids is the anticipation of waiting for the bloom to open, and when it does I am never disappointed in what has become of the plant I have found tucked away beneath the shelf in the corner. I have never wanted to receive a award for growing a flower or plant, I do this for my wife and I, to bring natures beauty inside the house on those cold snowy winter days. In the past few months I have purchased enough of the these nameless creatures that come Christmas I am able to share the beauty of these creations with the family members in their home till they are done blooming, where as they are returned to me to grow again for the following year, in which each member will receive a different flower. this little tradition started a while ago with my mom on mothers day when I purchased a phalenopsis for her and now she has a different orchid blooming in her house just about year round. There are a lot of orchids out there waiting to be purchased but I can not help to overlook the beauties in full bloom in the front of nursery with all their colors out for show and their names so proudly displayed on the side to walk right on by and go back to the dark corner to see what has enough strength and stamina left in him from not receiving enough light being over watered and decomposing media to start sending out new shoots and spikes. It is no surprise when I pick them up to examine them to find out the only name on the tag is orchid. Normally with in a few weeks this wonderful creation is rewarding me from saving it from a timely death by showing me it’s true colors, the blooms may not always be perfect the petals might not be precisely flat on a phal and the lip may be slightly off but in my book it still receives a award of merit. So next time you are in your local shop and you see all those beauties in full bloom selling at top dollars and you look down below and there it sits a faceless, no name orchid that has no idea who his parents are, but is still willing to grace you with beauty that only he can create to please you for weeks at a time for years to come.
