noid galore rescued from bins inc.phals, paphs, oncs, cyms, zygos, dens and more
greetings all, have been a member of this board for some months now and thought it was high time that i made some imput. im a bit of an amature really but have a passion for ecology.
ive kept many different spicies of plants and critters in my 29 yrs but have recently contracted the orchidaceae virus. and my collection has exploded from 1 phalaenopsis to 30 plants in the space of 12 months.
due to my love of all things great and small i take pitty easily on things that others would normally never give a second look. here lies my problem
i have rescued and reconditioned all these plants from bins at garden centres, or paying as little as 20p for phals or the most i have payed is £6 for a cymbidium that was priced up at £25 just because it had lost 1 spike (although i counted another3 on there way)
due to lots of love and the right conditions all of the plants are thriving and pretty much ALL of them are now spiking with many throwing out doubles
so i thougt we could all have a bit of fun in IDing some of my blooms as and when they appear.
i know some of the purest amongst you will have cold sweats at night over the thought of us amatures wrongly identifying a specimen but truth is i dont care, none of these plants will ever be exhibited of used for comercial porposes i'd just like to share the love and shed some light on what it is thats brightening up my rather crowded windowsill

Welcome to the Orchid Board. Most of us make up our own names for our noIDs. You can call them whatever you like. I'll be looking forward to you sharing your blooms with us. Enjoy!!

note use of 24x8x8'' tank, tank aids watering, increases humidity. the plants seem to love it in there, they are still individually potted they sit on a inch of clay gravel at base which allows greater drainage and are surrounded by bark, a length of airline runs down left hand corner so when i water the orchids i literally fill the tank with pond water then allow bark to absorb water for an hour then by sucking on the line i drain all the water back out the tank via our old friend gravity.
