Hi Wanda, I am 99% sure yours is Brassanthe Maikai (formerly Bc Maikai). I have 2 of them and our local botanic gardens has one also. It is a fragrant primary hybrid cross of Brassavola nodosa and Cattleya bowringiana and is very popular.

But the other 1% of me thinks it is Bc Little Stars x Maikai. I don't have this one myself but it looks very nice.

As always, it is a crap shoot to try to ID hybrids. At least this will point you in the correct direction for caring for it. It looks lovely.

The fragrance must be intoxicating.

ID = only the plant knows for sure!

I have to disagree on the possible Bsn. Maikai identification, though it could be a Maikai offspring. The lip shape just isn't right for Maikai or a cross back to Brassavola. The side lobes on the lip suggest a Brassavola x Encyclia hybrid to me. Either way, you probably can not be certain, and the care is the same. Thanks for sharing the photo.

I think it is Brassocattleya Maikai Mayumi HCC/AOS. I have one exactly the same and it came with that name...

The sidelobes make me think there is some Mexican Laelia in the woodpile.

This is why buying noid hybrids is to be discouraged. In this case, you can give general catt care and good light, but in many cases it can make pinning down care QUITE difficult. "Oncidium interngeneric," for example, could apply to plants from damn near every possible habitat in the tropical americas...from arid Caribbean islands to fog swaddled mountain ridges.

Howdy
Sorry, but must also chime in on the dissenting side -- Lip is the wrong color for the maikai varieties in circulation. And, maikai isn't fragrant at all = half browringiana.

Very pretty, and good growing.
