What is it?

This orchid was confiscated some years ago and ended up at the Botanic Gardens. It has the most unusual pbulbs (almost none) and really long leaves (12" on the longest one). It hasn't bloomed this year so I don't know what the bloom looks like but the spikes originate at the base of the pbulb.

It most likely originates from South or Central America (which is where the majority of the confiscated plants come from that end up at the Gardens).

The pbulbs are almost flat depth and about an inch wide and almost 3/4" tall. The leaves are fleshy and extremely firm and unifoliate. You can see the growth habit, one pbulb slightly elevated and on top of the previous (most likely epiphytic). I would assume it comes from a wet or humid environment since there really is no storage in the pbulb.

Any ideas what it is?

Looks like a mule-ear Oncidium or closely related genus like Lophiaris (spelling?).

As both people above me said definatly the right direction.

However I think splendidum has bigger bulbs.

Well at least I am on the right track. I'll just have to get it to bloom now so we can see what we get.
