Hi All, Very new to this and without much knowledge of orchids, long story short I have taken on my Grandfathers orchids after he died and many have no tags attached and although it may be an impossible task I would like to return his collection to a level that he would be proud of so all help would be appreciated. Any ideas on these ones?

The last one is Epidendrum ibaguense or a close relative.

The other ones seem to be hybrids of different australian Dendrobiums some could be species.

4-5-6 Dendrodium speciosum x Dendrobium caniculatum?
7-8 Dendrobium speciosum x Dendrobium delicatum?

bringing the orchids to good health and keeping them there is about all you can hope to do...naming orchids with lost tags is an impossible job as there are so many hybrids that look similar, even identical! gl in your endeavor, and you have many beautiful orchids!

All but the last two appear to be your native Australian dendrobiums. Photos 1 - 3, 7 and 8 look to me like Den. x delicatum (a natural hybrid of speciosum and kingianum), while 4, 5 and 6 look like they might be Den. gracilicaule (or maybe a hybrid derived from that species). Even if you're never able to identify them with absolute certainty, knowing that they're Australian dendrobiums should help you care for them. And if you can find a local orchid club you're bound to find some members who would be of potentially greater help than any of us who observe your plants long distance. Good luck!

Steve
