Help! What type of Orchid is this?
I rescued these two little Keikis from their dying mother a few months ago. The mother was dead when I rescued the keikis, it looked like she was about 7 inches tall when she was alive, there were no leaves left on the mother plant, it just looked like a stick. I originally potted the little ones on sphagnum but decided to switch them to a fine grade bark mix because it looked like the roots found it too wet with the sphagnum. I have an idea as to what type of Orchid it might be but I want to be sure. Your help is most appreciated.

Looks like a Paphiopedilum to me - this type takes a bit higher light than the mottled leaf type.

Yeah, I'd agree it's most likely a Paph.

The leaves are very hard and the roots seem very fragile. The mother looked like it had the growth habit of a Vanda or maybe a type of Agraecum?

I'd say it's some kind of vandaceous plant.. perhaps aerides?
Definitely not a paph, the leaves look wrong. especially when the mother plant was 7 inches tall, had no leaves and look like a stick.

Definitely, DEFINITELY, not a Paph. Looks Angraecoid to me.

Always difficult to say. I do not have experience in Angaecoid si I can not say. But for sure, Aerides is a possible option....

I'd say a member of the Vanda alliance.
