there is purpling on the buds too. does that mean too much light?

Nope, it just means your flowers will be a dark color. Purple or maroonish. If it were in too much sun the buds would turn brown.

Can't wait to see pictures of those babies when they're open!

Yeah, purplish buds mean purple flowers. Be sure to show us when it blooms, I love purple flowers.

Those buds definitely are a Den-Phal and by the way keep them dry during winter -spring and cool temps. Begin to water and fertilize when you see growth.
