Default non-orchid id needed

Hi,

I recently obtained this plant when my grandmother died. I am hoping someone can id it. It looks like a cross between a spider plant and Tillandsia to me, and it flowered at my grama's house last summer, flower reminded me a bit of a Tillandsia flower and was spiky and kind of purple/pink. It also has some serrations on the leaves you can see in the 2nd pic.

It's is planted in some general soil and I would like to replant, but since I can't id it, I'm not sure what would be best. It would mean a lot to me if I could keep this plant happy.

Thanks for any help.

Ah thank you all for quick answers leading in the right direction. Since I didn't have a good idea of what it was, I have been unsure of what kind of culture it needs.

I looked up pics of queen's tears and th eflower is quite close to what I remember seeing last summer. Even if it is not the exact plant, I assume I can give it similar culture? If anyone has any tips, I'd appreciate it, since I don't grow any bromeliads.

Thanks all!

Sara

I have walking iris--doesn't look anything like this plant. It definately doesn't have barbs on the leaves. I also think it is probably some sort of bromeliad.

There is no doubt that it is a bromeliad. The queen something id would be a queens tears I think... used to grow lots of those when I worked at a nursery in houston and queens tears would have a spike with purple and pink blooms on it.
