Question Laelias & Catts & Brassos, Oh My!

Okay, question on the name changes.

Assuming that the parent plants are now Sophrocattleya (previously Laeliocattleya) AND the Brassavola is now Rhyncholaelia, then what the heck is this orchid called now?

Also, where do you put the clonal name?

Lc. Carl Bornshine
Clonal name: Mendenhall

x B Aristocrat
Clonal name: Mark

Here is my best guess:

Sc. Carl Bornshine 'Mendenhall' x Rhynch. (or Rl.?)Aristocrat 'Mark'

I see conflicting information regarding the abbreviation for Rhyncholaelia (some have Rhynch. some have Rl.)

Assuming this orchid is bloomed then registered, how would the resulting name be classified?

Any ideas...this nomenclature stuff is confusing.

Of course that assumes there is no Guaranthe in the Lc...

I can't keep up either. I just leave the tags alone.

(Lc. Carl Bornshine x B. Aristocrat) 'My Clone' is how I'd write it.

If the Laelia in the Lc was moved to Sophronitis, it has now been changed again to Cattleya. So the Lc. Carl Bornshine is now just C. Carl Bornshine (according to the newest naming system). I don't particularly like lumping all S. into C. but it is what it is.

The B. Aristocrat should be Rl. Aristocrat. I do agree with this change. Rhyncholaelia is very different from true Brassavolas. I think the abbreviation Rhync. is for Rhynchostylis, but I may be mistaken.

If the Laelia involved was one that had been moved to Sohpronitis, than the genus would be Rhyncattleya. (C. + Rl.)

If the Laelia was a true Laelia (Mexican), than the new genus would be Rhyncatlaelia or something similar. (Lc + Rl.)
