Can anyone please identify this for me? I think that this is a hard cane dedrobium.I bought it last year when it was in bud. This year it has blossomed in my care. Its nicer when an orchid plant you buy blooms, well after you buy it. Makes me feel like I'm doing something right.
Veena
Veena, this looks like a Dend fimbriatum to me for sure. Does it have a weird spicy fragrance (not very pleasing though)?
You can check my blooms to compare: Satish Sherikar's Photos - Orchids 2010 | Facebook
I have both the plants (fimbriatum var occulatum and chrysotoxum) with me. I was a little lazy and did not take the pictures of the chrysotxum when in bloom.
There are some subtle differences between Dend fimbriatum var occulatum (the one in my blooms) and the Dend chrysotoxum var suavissimum. The fimbriatum spike typically droops a little while the chrysotoxum is erect and pointing upwards. The fimbriatum var occulatum throat has stripes and the plant structure is also different (canes of fimbriatum are thinner than chrysotoxum. chrysotoxum are typically more swollen and slightly shorter than fimbriatums canes).
