I sold this plant last friday for Php450 (that's about $9 to $10 USD). According to the label it's Vanda Sanderiana and the seller also called it vanda sanderiana. Anyway im in doubt that this is a pure sanderiana (or possibly a hybrid one)
Here are some pics focused mostly on the "spur" part of the flower
Experts out there please help me with this one. Thanks in advance.
As for V coerulea, hybrids of Euanthe sanderiana are getting now so closed to the type specie than it's getting more and more difficult to give clear ID.
If it can help some characteristics to ID the specie are :
- lateral sepals larger than dorsal one
- lip size is 3cm long and 2 cm large with 3 lines at the apex
- no spur (very important)
From what I see most of those are on the flowers.
It is most difficult to tell the purity of any called V. sanderiana plant by just looking at it. This is most specially true when the hybrid plant are several generation back crossed to the species.. It will look very much like the type species, even if it is no llonger a pure species. A DNA test will probably give the best answer. But you have to spend a forune to have it done. Never the less, just appreciate your "V. sanderiana" for whatever it is, pure or not pure.
