Is it Dendrobium kingianum? Male
Default Is it Dendrobium kingianum?

I purchased this plant which was not labeled.
The plants and its blooms looked very like those of Dendrobium kingianum. But as i know, there are some Dendrobium kingianum's crosses that also similar to it.
Could you please give me some ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Do you have a photo of the whole plant? The leave look like kingianum, however there are several species and hybrids with similar flowers...

for what I see in this pic, the plant seems to be "wrong" for kingianum....

Its a strong flower for a kingianum but outcrossing of these has come a long way and they have developed some great flowers. The look of the plant will achieve nothing as these have altered also.
It is possible that it is a hybrid though I doubt you will ever know.

Thanks, Ramón and Roy.

It seemed to be difficult to make difference between them. Here are the photos of my plants.

The plant does not look much like a "standard" D. kingianum.... however as Roy said, it can be that this has been bred in such a way that the general look of the plant has been "modified" (I must admit that in this cases, I do not believe anymore they are pure species. Look at the case of the "super Paph. primulinum you can find now: large flowers and large plants - Apparently, it is now known this are hybrids back crossed several times to Paph. primulinum, so that they look like Primulinum on steroids, and were sold this way. Unfortunately most people believed that, and they have incaded the market - these are most of the Paph. primulinum you can find in the USA and Canada, and very often in Europe too)

The reason I asked for the plant, is because in Europe you can frequently find hybrids like D. Berry sold as kingianum. These hebrids have a very different plant, and if yours were like that, then it would have been easy to identify as species.

Thanks, Ramón.
These plants were imported into Taiwan several years ago. Sellers just divided their plants and finally lost the names after trading or division. Most of these plants are now sold as the name 'Australia Dendrobium' instead of D. kingianum.
I know that the sellers tend to say their plants are species but not hybrids. Because in my country, species plants are usually highly priced.

pheli, your last post put a whole new angle on the question. I have to go back to agreeing with Ramon. Its more than likely that these ARE hybrids and not pure kingianum, the species. There are kingi's that are very similar and can be hard to tell apart.
