not a den nobile I think. looked like long / skinnier pendulous canes. well at the BBG they have a nice display and free access everywhere in the winter season and on tuesdays and sat mornings.
and regular admission is 8$.

The NYBG is always 20 $ to access to the conservatory.

The BBG has a nice natural display not too manicured. I think the majority of people do not care about tags / names - see more people more into drawing plants on their sketchbooks.

I also wish they had more botanical species than man made hybrds

I think that you meant a Maxillaria. In fact on the first set of pictures the last 2 are Maxillarias. I can't tell you which species but definetely Maxillarias.

Are there Maxillarias that don't have pseudobulbs?

It looks like a nobile to me. Mine has long, skinny, pendulous canes as well. If they are grown mounted or in hanging baskets the canes will hang down (to clarify, I'm talking about pics 6 and 7 in the first post, not the second one).

I am really wondering the one on the table with the large leaves is. I do not think is a Masdevallia. the leaves are quite large.

#'s 4, 5, 6 on your second posting appears to be a Maxillaria like Roly0217 had said.

One characteristic of certain Bulbophyllums are hinged lips that have the ability to bob at the slightest touch.

If the lip is fixed, it's most likely a Maxillaria.

It's not a Masdevallia. I'm 100% sure of it.

It just looks like one.

The pseudobulbs are there, the picture is shot an an angle where they're hard to see.

Maybe Stefano can take another photo of the plant from an angle that can show the pseudobulbs clearly.

If it has pseudobulbs, then I would agree it's a Maxillaria.

I am not sure it had pseudobulbs. the leaves were 6/7 inches long. it was behind a glass I could not get too close. was in the hot / humid tropical section
