NOID: Oncidiinae Intergeneric Male
Default NOID: Oncidiinae Intergeneric

Hi,

I saw this plant on clearance and couldn't pass it up. The flowers are about 1-2 inches each and smell like vanilla. What looks like decorative moss in the attached picture is actually a mass of aerial roots. The vigor and fragrance are what drew me to it; the price sealed the deal. The tag reads "Oncidiinae Intergeneric", but I was hoping to maybe narrow it down a little further.

Thanks for your help!
-Bob

I can see why you couldn't pass it up. I wouln't have been able to either.

I'm afraid I can't help on the ID. I would get as far as Oncidium Intergeneric and no further and you already have that. Hope someone else will know more for you.

Ooh, I think I found it!

HAWAIIAN TROPICALS DIRECT - BARBARA IANNONE lists it as Wildcat 'Jungle Monarch'

Colmanara Jungle Monarch 'Everglades' HCC/AOS*::*Odontoglossum*::*Easy Orchids
This description pegs it!

Picasa Web Albums - Todd Boland - Orchid Pictur...
this looks just like it.

strangely, the first two NOID I've found through this board are:
Odontocidium Wildcat 'Bobcat' (my name is bob)
Odontocidium Jungle Monarch 'Evergaldes' (grew up next to the everglades)
