Please I.D. this Cattleya
Hello All,
I found this cattleya at the local grocery store. The poor thing was in potting soil . Those beautiful yellow flowers caught my eye and I couldn't pass it by, not to mention it was only $2. Can anyone i.d. it for me?
Thanks,
Ingrid76

That's an easy one Ingrid, it's known down here in Oz as Cattleya bargain! You should go back to the store and give them more $'s to ease your conscience but only if it is worrying you.

Baz, you’re hilarious . The garden section is managed by outside vendors, so I'm thinking they wanted to get rid of the poor thing. All in all, everyone is benefiting.

It reminds me of LC daffodil, but mine didn't have the little red spots on it so that may not suit.
Do the flowers fade to become translucent as they age?
Cheers,
Aus.

No, the one flower that is fading now is turning dark. Thanks for the suggestion. Now after reviewing pictures of Lc. daffodil, I'm thinking it might be a type of hybrid.

I believe it's Bc. Daffodil (Brassavola glauca x Cattleya aurantiaca). It looks just like the pictures from this thread

Oh dear. The RHS doesn't appear to have an "Lc daffodil". And checking out pictures on the web, some of the Rhyncanthe daffodil don't have the red spots either.
So you might have helped me correct a label Ingrid - many thanks.
Cheers,
Aus.

Not sure what it is, but man, what an awesome plant! I love the glossy golden-yellow flowers.
