Hi Steve

It seems the info on your tag is missing a few details

Here's what I found in Orchidwiz:
Quote:
Clowesetum Manny Tavarez (Catasetum expansum x Clowesia warczewitzii)
It was originated by JEM in 2009...hope this helps

The botom part of the tag has "jem 536 03/18/2004,, and it has the "warczewitzii" X "expansum". Does not make differance which plant is the parent?

The jem 536 3/18/2004 seems to be a code that the grower used. It is not part of the plant's name.

I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong (and I hope they do! ) but I don't think the name of the plant changes when the parents are switched around...I think the hybrid would show more traits from the first parent

Sue is correct....the name is the same either way it is crossed. If the Jem 536 was in apostrophes like this: 'Jem 536'.... then this means the plant was awarded, and the grower chose this as the cultivar name.

This is both the parents. It is telling you that this is a cross between Ctsm. warczewitzii and Ctsm. expansum, which would be written like Ctsm. (warczewitzii x expansum). Then, several years later (when the plant bloomed), the cultivar registered the cross with the RHS, and gave this hybrid the name that Susanne provided. Now that it is registered in that name, anyone who ever makes that cross again, will have to call it by that name.
