These are great! This is in fact Florida's
Encyclia tampensis. This epiphytic species can be found commonly in most of central and southern Florida, and also in The Bahamas. I am surprised to see that there was one in bloom at this time of year, but they are known to sometimes sporadically bloom. This species can grow on almost anything vertical (even a fencepost), and can grow in full sun (where the leaves and pseudobulbs turn purple) or in heavily shaded areas. This species, like
Cyrtopodium punctatum, display a wide range of color variations and patterns. They are VERY easy to grow and durable to many conditions.
Great pics!
