I really shouldn't be allowed in any stores that sell orchids. Even Costco isn't safe for me anymore! This one looked so pretty and healthy that I couldn't pass it up, especially for $10.
Could someone help me identify this Dendrobium for me? I've never had a Den. before so an ID would be really helpful. If any experienced Den. growers want to share some tips I would really appreciate it.
Also, it did have a tag but it wasn't very helpful... it said:
Den.M-DA-158 (Kanjana) Week 20-08
If anyone knows who the vendor for Costco in California is then I can maybe contact them.
That is a really nice one! Unfortunately since there are so many dend hybrids out there, your best bet would be to call the Costco where you purchased it and ask to speak to the floral manager, and ask him/her what vendors sell to costco in cali. Problem is, costco may be the last stop in a line of orchid distributors that sell to costco, but I would try anyways! All I can tell you for sure is that your dend is a hard cane dend. You could also potentially google that name you typed...
This one is awesome, I would have bought it too!
I think it's a Dendrobium Phalaenopsis type, which means it's warm growing and doesn't need a winter rest. However, the shape of the flower confuses me, but the spike from the top of the cane suggest it's a Den. Phal, type.
PS I Googled the name on the tag and found one picture from Den. Kanjana here
If the name from the Dendrobium is right, you might have a cross with Kanjana.
