unknown orchid, possibly a zygopetalum hybrid? Female
Default unknown orchid, possibly a zygopetalum hybrid?

Hi
I am a recent lover of orchids and recently picked this orchid up. It didn't come with any identification but after a little research I think it *might* be some sort of zygopetalum hybrid (but I could be completely wrong).

It has a slightly spicy fragrance...

Any help identifying this little beauty and any tips on how to keep it happy and healthy would be much appreciated!

Hi Murphy and welcome to the OB.
Sorry I can't help with an ID, but it's beautiful.

I'm no expert, but it sure looks like it could be a zygo hybrid. Lovely, too.

How big is the plant? Are there pseudobulbs? Are inflorescences taller than leaves? From what point on plant does spike emerge? How is it potted?

Kristen. Glad you could join us. It's a fun place to be. Can't help with the name of your 'chid, but it's quite an impressive bloom.

That's an intergeneric hybrid with Zygopetalum as one of the genuses (sp?) involved. Not sure what else is in there.

When I first got it a month ago it did not have any scent but last week I noticed that it has a scent that smells a little spicy. It's a really wonderful scent.
