Your orchid is a Phalenopsis (Phal for short) and it's a really pretty one.
It's pretty unlikely you'll ever find a hybrid name for it as there are so many Phal hybrids which all look similar to each other. We call then NoID and many folks like to give them a name anway (I do for all my NoIDs).
Here is the care sheet for Phalenopsis. The advice on this link is pretty good for Phal hybrids whose care is pretty much the same for all the common ones.

I'm not exactly sure what is meant on your watering instructions. What I would do is dunk the pot in water for 10-15min then let it drain thoroughly until no more water is coming out the holes in the bottom.
Make sure it is not left standing in water for long periods of time (although I've sometimes left them an hour or so with no harm when I've forgotten one).
The other thing to know is
when to water and there are a couple of methods of judging that...
1. Have a clear pot. This is my favourite. With a clear pot you can see the roots and medium. If the roots are green then it's not time to water yet. If the roots are silvery (right down to the bottom) the you should water again.
2. Use a wooden skewer pushed in to the medium. Leave it there all the time and when you want to know if you should water pull it out. If it is damp or cold on your cheek then don't water yet. If it is dry all the way down then it is time to water.
3. Judge by the weight of the pot. This is the most difficult for beginners and I've not sussed it myself yet, but you can learn to judge my the weight of the pot whether it needs watering or not.
Basically Phals like to dry out between waterings and you need to check not just the surface, but the medium all the way down.
